ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ welcomed 45 local and national employers to the first of three career fairs this academic school year. To help better serve the students and perspective employers, ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ is hosting industry-specific career fairs, however, these opportunities are open to all ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ students and alumni.
The first career fair is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 in I-HACK, the Institute for Health and Cyber Knowledge, on ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ’s campus. This event will focus on opportunities within the industries of engineering, business and technology.
The AHN Career Expo is from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the Yehl Ballroom in ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ’s Waldron Campus Center. This opportunity is for students to connect with recruiters and managers from different hospitals and departments across Allegheny Health Network. Some of the positions being recruited for include nursing, laboratory sciences, rehabilitation services and radiology.
The final career fair will be for those pursuing careers within the industries of humanities and social sciences from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025 in I-HACK.
“Having just one career fair on campus is an invaluable professional development opportunity for our ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ students,” said Alyson Eagle, Ph.D., assistant director of employer relations for ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ. “This year, our office has adjusted the career fair model to host three separate career fairs on-campus. The change reflects industry-specific recruitment cycles to help streamline hiring needs for our employer partners and sets our students up for the best possibility for a successful internship or job placement. Our students work hard for their degrees in their time at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ, and we want our students to successfully enter the workforce upon graduation.”
Students are encouraged to attend in-person and virtual career fair prep sessions in which they can learn the basics of resume development, dos and don’ts of professional wear and how to establish an elevator pitch.
