ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ honors veterans with special Remembrance ceremony

President Iwanenko and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Peter Correa lay a wreath in remembrance of those currently serving, those who have served and those who have given their lives to their country.

The cadre and cadets of the “Pride of PA” Army ROTC Battalion at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ proudly paid tribute to the courage, sacrifice and dedication of those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces during a Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 7. 

The celebration began with a welcome from Cadet Rebecca Young. Retired Army Captain Raymond Patterson, military science instructor at ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ, performed the National Anthem followed by the invocation delivered by Father Michael Kesicki, university chaplain.   

ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ President Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., also spoke to the importance of honoring veterans and the importance of their service to the university, our community and nation.  

"ÌÇÐÄVLOGÍøÒ³°æ is honored to host this special Veterans Day ceremony, which allows us to come together as a community in gratitude for the extraordinary sacrifices and selfless service of our veterans," said Iwanenko "This event is a moment to reflect on the courage of those who have defended our nation and to express our unwavering support for them and their families. We are deeply grateful for their service and dedication." 

Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Peter Correa addressed attendees as this year’s guest speaker.   

In addition, a wreath was laid in honor of military members who are currently serving, have served or have given their lives in service to their country. The day’s events concluded with the playing of Taps, the National Song of Remembrance.
